If you were around in the 1980s, you were around for a very interesting time in music.  Because back then, New Wave had taken the world over. If you were a fan of new wave, then you were definitely a fan of the “synthesizer” sound that was so big in new wave. Today, we can see some similarities with some of the popular now that uses synthesizers in the same way it was used 20 years ago. But as pop music tends to do, the tide changed, and in 1992 the word Grunge was completely universal and destroyed the New Wave genre. Now, like so many times in the past, what was once lame is cool again, and people are starting to hear synthesizers in music again, especially in new rock bands like The Killers, who have used it in some of their songs.
