Understanding Upper Back Pain

It is very true that many people, and this includes doctors, misunderstand upper back pain and neck pain.  It is often dismissed as imaginary or exaggerated pain, and patients who have had their pain dismissed like this often feel the necessity to “prove” the pain to others.  Some doctors also try to convince patients that as they cannot find a physical source for the upper back pain, the pain cant be that bad.  If you should be so unlucky to be dismissed like this you should seek a second opinion from someone who will take your upper back pain seriously.  This problem can arise as there are no medical tests that are available to measure upper back pain levels, so doctors cant test the pain as they would for a broken arm, (with an x-ray), or an infection (with a blood test).
