Rilonacept- a Latest Drug for Gout

Lately, a new found drug is being discovered. Rilonacept is a very new drug for the treatment of gout that is still undergoing clinical trials. It is to be marketed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, under the name Arcalyst. It is primarily for those with active chronic gout and has been shown to be safe for this. It deals with gout flare ups by lowering the uric acid levels in the blood. It was originally developed to treat a couple of very rare diseases. It is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor, similar to another gout drug, allopurinol. This does not mean it can be used in people who, for whatever reason, cannot tolerate allopurinol nor have too many side effects from it. It was good news for everybody who is experiencing too much pain with gout. It could be a great help for them.
